Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chiropractic visit like at your office?

A new patient is typically about 30 minutes long and the visit includes intake paperwork, an exam and, if appropriate, treatment. Imaging is not taken unless it is medically necessary.

A returning patient visit is typically about 10 minutes long and includes a mixture of soft tissue treatment, an adjustment, at home exercises depending on patients' needs.

What techniques are used in office?

Dr. Gloria practices Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson Drop, Activator, and Flexion-Distraction adjusting methods. She also performs instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and various trigger point release methods.

I hear that once you start seeing a chiropractor, you have to see one forever. Is that true?

As a joke in the office Dr. Arras commonly says "I hope to see you as little as possible", meaning we want you out doing the things you enjoy - not coming back to our office all the time in pain. At HiFive Health and Chiropractic our goal is to treat, educate, and get patients better. Patient education is a large part of our care plans for patients ensuring that they have the knowledge and resources to get well and stay well. We do not sell packages of adjustment or extensive plans that commit you to long term care.  If we are not getting you better in our office, we will refer you to one that will. This includes referrals to physical therapy, primary physicians, surgeons, and other specialists. Dr. Arras firmly believes in the value of having physicians work together to help get the best care for patients.

Is Chiropractic right for everyone?

No. While chiropractic care can be beneficial for many, it is not appropriate for all individuals or all situations. This is why we do an exam before treating any patient. We want to ensure that care is appropriate.

Do you take imaging on everyone?

No. In our office, we only take imaging when it is medically necessary. Medical necessity requirements for images are set by the American College of Radiology - these are the guidelines used in office.

Do I really need to fill out all my medical history info just to get my back adjusted?

Yes. It is extremely important for your chiropractor to know your complete medical history. There are many things that effect what we do including medications, previous diagnosis such cancer, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disorders and much more. Knowing the whole history allows us to individualize care and determine the most appropriate, safest care for each patient. This is why it is also important to update your doctor with any medal changes as well.

Is chiropractic care covered by my insurance policy?

This is a tricky one. Some policies cover chiropractic care while others do not. Every policy is different, even with the same insurance provider. If you would like to know your coverage, it is best that you call the number on the back of your insurance care and speak with a representative. We will not know your coverage in office until we bill it out and they respond to use. Patients are liable for any costs not covered by insurance. We are in network with United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Not Blue Care Network), HAP, McLaren, Molina, Medicare, and some forms of Medicaid.
